Wills: Its very existence has transformed our nation by dramatically increasing the power of the modern presidency and redefining the government as a national security state.  Wills, author of Bomb Power, says the Manhattan Project was a
triumph of official secrecy and military discipline, perhaps expected in wartime, but then growing into the covert operations and overt authority that have defined American government in the nuclear era.   Tickets are $5 at http://www.brownpapertickets.comor 800-838-3006, and at the door beginning at 6:30 pm. Sun Feb 14 FILM AND Q&A PANEL DISCUSSION:  “GOD GREW TIRED OF US" (89 min) 11: 00 AM to 3:00 PM
Part of EXILED VOICES FOR JUSTICE - A Series of Documentary Screenings and Q&A Panel Discussions.
The pre-eminent political and spiritual leader, Mahatma Gandhi, led India to independence from British rule in 1947. His legacy has inspired non-violent social protests against injustice, worldwide. “Exiled Voices for Justice,” a series of critically-acclaimed documentary films paired with Q&A panel discussions, has been organized in Gandhi’s honor.
The purpose of “Exiled Voices for Justice” is three-fold: to spotlight some of the gravest, most chronic injustices confronting humanity; to connect and empower advocates of social justice; and to rally the political will and resources necessary to galvanize meaningful change.
“Exiled Voices for Justice” will begin at Seattle University with a series of screenings of three documentary films about Burma (BURMA VJ), Sudan (GOD GREW TIRED OF US), and Congo (LUMO), and continue tentatively at University of Washington with a screening of a documentary film about asylee youth from Central America (WHICH WAY HOME).
“Exiled Voices for Justice” is endorsed by Global Washington and Seeds of Compassion. Right before and after each screening and Q&A panel discussion, Washington-based non-profits and foundations working on behalf of the vulnerable populations portrayed in each documentary film will exhibit literature about their initiatives and opportunities for attendees to get involved.  More info on the film:www.godgrewtiredofus.com <http://www.godgrewtiredofus.com/>
Admittance is free. However space will be limited. More information about each event will be posted towww.exiledvoicesforjustice.org <http://www.exiledvoicesforjustice.org/> .
